Heather Gant's Pennine Way Diary
Introduction
Introduction

AS A SCHOOLGIRL IN THE MID SIXTIES I FIRST SET FOOT IN THE PEAK DISTRICT OF DERBYSHIRE. I WALKED UP GRINDSBROOK WHICH WAS THEN IN THE EARLY DAYS THE OFFICIAL START TO THE PENNINE WAY.

I THINK THE DIE WAS CAST AT THAT TIME AND IT WAS INEVITABLE THAT ONE DAY I WOULD COMPLETE THE PENNINE WAY.

AFTER NEARLY 40 YEARS A PLAN WAS PUT INTO PLACE A DATE WAS SET AND TRAINING COMMENCED.

AT LAST ON MAY 3RD 2006 WE ARRIVED IN EDALE TO START OUR BIG ADVENTURE - THE CULMINATION OF A DREAM
